Welcome Back to the Dinner Party

Last year, I had the honor of participating in my first Abrams Dinner Party. I had applied and was accepted, but really did not know what to expect other than I was getting some cookbooks to review. I ended up being a part of a vibrant, helpful, and friendly community of cooks and bakers who were eager to share knowledge and their experiences in cooking the recipes found in the cookbooks we received. Also, the cookbooks were fabulous. My cooking and baking skills improved, I learned many new recipes, I even made pizza and became quite good at it. The ABRAMS Dinner Party made the anxious months so much better for me. I had no idea when I applied that it would become a lifeline, a way to ease my stress levels as the world went through a global pandemic. Being part of this community was such a learning experience and a joy that I was excited to apply again for this year, even though my work from home and school schedules are crazy. Also, I get to again hang out with some incredible bakers and cooks. I hope you are following the #ABRAMSDinnerParty hashtag on social media and getting to know my fellow diners. They are well worth knowing.

To my delight, I was accepted again and have been cooking, baking, and taking notes on recipes in some of the amazing new cookbooks I have received in the past few weeks. You may have seen some of my Instagram or Facebook quick posts. I will be going into more detail in future posts here as there is so much to share. In many upcoming posts over the next few seasons, I’ll be writing about Scott Conant’s new cookbook, Peace, Love, and Pasta; Julia Sherman’s Arty Parties; 2021 Christmas with Southern Living; Erika Kubick’s Cheese Sex Death: A Bible for the Cheese Obsessed; and many more (see the gallery below for some of the covers of books I’ll be writing about). I hope you all join me for this dinner party and that you find the books as fascinating and delicious as I did.
